The news is full of stories of teens and young girls battling anorexia and bulimia. Grocery store magazines are continually telling stories of the stars losing weight, looking too thin and sickly. Models continue to promote the idea of being thin and if you are not - you do not belong or fit in to the world that has been created.
There is a lesser know area of this disorder and teens are not the focus, instead look no further than the soccer mom down the street, your next door neighbor celebrating her 40th birthday, or the lady who seems to have it all together.
The women who are normally seen as strong and able to do everything are reacting more and more by controlling the their eating. The stress of life, work, family and aging parents not to mention the unending barrage of commercials and magazines telling them to look younger, lose weight and turn back the clock on aging.
With all of those things, women in their 30's, 40's and even 50's are restoring to a life many see as a teen problem. Doctor's see this trend as logical and is for those who faced the disorder earlier in life, they now have a greater chance of relapsing now.
There is hope that with the word spreading about this surprising trend those struggling may see they are not alone and there is help.
