It seems, however, that times are changing. I drove down the street the other day and saw a billboard that made me smile and I felt, finally, that there was hope for all of us. The billboard, if you have not seen it, shows two friends sitting on the grass in a park, the headline says…”My friend has a mental illness,” then lists the website www.whatadifference.org
When I visited the site I was impressed with the information available and while it focuses on Bipolar Disorder, there is information that is relevant to anyone who lives with mental illness, or those who care about them.
At a time when so many people feel alone, it is a welcome change to see society finally putting a face to those who have had to hide for so long.
That billboard is really cool. It makes me have hope that headway is being made toward destigmatizing mental illness. There is so much to be done!!
